A little background on Nate Bianco, his views on network marketing opportunities, and overcoming the challenges of being legally blind.

Growing up I always wanted to own my own business, and make a lot of money. Even in high school, which I hated, I was always watching the late night infomercials about making money, and I bought a lot of those silly courses to.

After high school I decided not to go to college, and got a part time job instead. As I got into my early twenties my eyesight really began to diminish, and driving a car was becoming an issue. I think because I was out in the work force now, my dreams of working for myself and being financially free started to disappear.

I ended up getting a full time job at a home improvement store at age 19, and became a dept. manager their at age 22. I was the youngest DM at my store, and didn’t get a whole lot of respect from the older folks. But for the next 2 to 3 years I started to think this was the path for me, and maybe I could work my way up to store manager one day.

Well, after almost 6 years there the company started to downsize. I got demoted, and the company went out of business shortly after. The last 8 to 12 months I worked there though I started to really hate people telling me what to do. I couldn’t stand having to work 40+ hours a week, and not be able to take days off when I wanted to. What really got to me most was we only got 2 weeks of vacation time, and even that was a hassle because everyone wants to go on vacation in the 3 warmest months of the year, and not everyone can take off at the same time. There were years when I couldn’t even take a summer trip between June and August, what a bunch of crap that was.

During my last year or so at that company I even tried starting my own sports nutrition business online. That bombed after about 6 months when I realized I was competing against companies who had millions of dollars of inventory on hand, and were selling the exact same product below the cost I was paying for it.

Around October 1999 is when I got on disability and started going through a lot of counseling to try and figure out what sort of job I was going to be able to do without my eyesight. I lived on about $900 per month for the next two years while taking a bunch of tests and trying to figure out what I was going to do for the rest of my life. Again, sort of losing my dreams of working for myself, being financially free, and most of all starting to really lose my independence.

Then one day while surfing the internet for career options, I got one of those annoying pop up ads, but it talked about working from home, with an unlimited income potential, and I could start it part or full time. Oh, and NO boss. All of that sounded pretty good to me.

Of course after I filled out the form, they wanted money for me to get started. Money I thought I didn’t have. But after looking at the website, reading through the product details, and thinking about the alternative of going back to a job and working for the next 40 years. Well the thought of that just made me sick to my stomach, in fact as I write this now it still does.

So it turned out that the pop up I got was for a network marketing opportunity, and everything I was hearing sounded like total freedom to me. Not just financial freedom, but time freedom which to me is more important than anything, because time is one thing you can never get back.

So I found a way to get started, the cost to join and purchase the product was almost $350, which was more than my house payment at the time. But I knew if I didn’t do it I’d fall back into that slump of trading time for dollars, barely having any time to spend with friends, family, and maybe getting a week or two of vacation time, then wonder if I can even afford to go somewhere nice.

So that was in 2002 that I got started in my first network marketing home based business. I did struggle for a handful of months, but I really became a student of the industry. I listened to CD’s, training calls, listened to audio books and a LOT of personal growth material. Most importantly I kept myself plugged into the people who were having success, and learned from them through their training channels.

In March of 2003 I was earning enough money that I could get off of disability and not have to worry about getting a job to pay the bills. I continued to work at it and build my team, and now for the last 6 years I have earned a solid six figure income in my home based business.

Most importantly I have the time freedom I wanted so badly. I go to bed whenever I want, because I know I can sleep till noon or 1pm if I feel like it. At the time I’m writing this it’s 2011, and for the last 8+ years now I can only remember setting my alarm clock maybe 10 to 15 times, and that was only because I needed to be at the airport for a trip.

It’s August right now and I’ve spent most of the summer lounging by my pool, camping at a near by park, and at the lake on my Sea Doo boat.

We’re headed to the NASCAR races in Bristol and will be taking a day to spend at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. Then from September till March I’ll be at another NASCAR race in Virginia, camping there for 6 days, then to Orlando Florida for an event, and will spend a week down there to catch the Fort Lauderdale boat show. Then off to Las Vegas in November for a few days, and will probably go on a cruise in December or January. Then in March back to Las Vegas for a few more days.

Best of all, I do this with zero debt.

My goal is now to work with as many people as I can to teach them how to achieve the same success I have, or even better would be great. There is absolutely no reason people should have to work their whole lives just to retire dead broke at an age where they can’t really do the things they wanted to in the first place, even if they could afford them.

I know right now most would be happy to have that job security back that they had a few years ago, but maybe now is the time to start thinking about alternative ways of earning money. Maybe the new middle class is right here in network marketing, and with the time freedom this business allows, we can all have more fun and spend our time doing the things that matter most, and that’s just hanging out with people we care about and having a good time together.

Being legally blind I have had a lot of my independence taken away from me, but this industry has given back so much more. I think the best advise I can give people out there who are either just looking at a network marketing opportunity, or maybe struggling to make it happen is, never give up, always strive to learn more each day and get better, and surround yourself with people who are already successful. If you get involved with people who have made this business their lifestyle, and do what they do, you will find success.
