If you’re looking for an honest Power Lead System review, I have a somewhat different perspective than someone who just joined PLS last week and immediately wrote a glowing review about it.
I first seriously looked at Power Lead System back in 2021.
At the time, I wasn’t even looking for another income opportunity.
I had been marketing online for nearly 20 years and simply wanted a better funnel builder. I needed something that would let me create professional capture pages and bridge pages without making the process unnecessarily complicated.
Power Lead System was one of the platforms I investigated.
I even purchased their inexpensive Lead Lightning product for $7 to get a better look at what they were doing.
At roughly the same time, I discovered the Home Business Academy and purchased its funnel builder.
Ultimately, I chose HBA.
Now, approximately five years later, I decided to go back and take another serious look at Power Lead System.
And I’m glad I did, because PLS has continued evolving.
They’ve added new training, expanded their product lineup and, more recently, jumped heavily into AI.
So the question I wanted to answer wasn’t simply:
Is Power Lead System legit?
I think that’s pretty easy to answer.
Yes, it is.
The more interesting questions are:
What do you actually get with Power Lead System in 2026?
How good are the tools and training?
What has PLS added with AI?
And after watching both companies evolve for approximately five years:
Would I still choose Home Business Academy over Power Lead System today?
Here’s my take.
What Is Power Lead System?
Power Lead System, commonly called PLS, is an online marketing platform designed to give entrepreneurs the basic tools and training they need to generate leads and market a business online.
The company has been around since 2013 and is headed by CEO Neil Guess.
The core PLS marketing platform includes tools for things like:
Lead capture pages
Sales pages
Sales funnels
Autoresponder campaigns
Email broadcasts
Subdomains
Ad tracking
Contact management
Shareable funnels
And other online marketing tools.
That’s an important point because you don’t necessarily have to promote Power Lead System itself.
If you’re already involved with a network marketing company, affiliate program, coaching business or other online business, you can use the PLS tools to generate leads for that business.
And in my opinion, that is one of the biggest benefits of a platform like this.
After 24 years of marketing online, I think there are a few core things virtually every online marketer needs.
You need a page builder so you can create capture pages.
You need an autoresponder so you can collect leads and follow up with them through email.
And you need good training and support so you can learn how to actually use those tools and become a better marketer.
Buying software doesn’t automatically make you a marketer.
You need to learn how to generate traffic, capture leads and convert those leads into customers.
PLS attempts to put those pieces together in one system.
My Personal Experience With Power Lead System
I want to be very clear about my experience because I see far too many “reviews” online where someone writes as though they’ve extensively used a product they barely touched.
I was never a long-term full Power Lead System member.
Around September 2021, I purchased Lead Lightning for approximately $7.
Lead Lightning was essentially an inexpensive entry point into the PLS ecosystem.
It gave you a done-for-you system that could be used to generate leads and promote Lead Lightning itself, while earning small commissions when other people purchased it.
I looked through the system and got some exposure to what PLS was doing, but I never purchased all of their higher-priced training products.
So I’m not going to sit here and pretend I personally completed every PLS course.
I didn’t.
I also didn’t spend months extensively using the main Power Lead System funnel builder.
I evaluated PLS pages, watched their presentations and webinars, explored what I had access to through Lead Lightning and talked with people who had experience with both platforms.
One of those people was a friend of mine named Rob, who had used both the PLS and HBA funnel builders.
At the time, he felt HBA’s builder was more robust, easier to use and gave him more flexibility.
That matched what I was seeing visually.
The PLS pages I was looking at in 2021 seemed fairly generic and somewhat dated to me.
But again, that’s my personal opinion based on what I saw at the time.
It’s not me claiming I spent six months building funnels inside PLS.
If you’re comparing funnel builders because you need more leads, the most important question isn’t just which platform has more features. It’s whether you can actually use the tools and get help when you’re stuck. Here’s a closer look at the kind of tools, training, and support I consider essential.
Why I Chose HBA’s Funnel Builder Instead
When I purchased the HBA Funnel Builder in 2021, my reaction was completely different.
I loved it almost immediately.
And there’s something unusual about my experience that probably makes this comparison more interesting.
I’m legally blind.
Building web pages visually is obviously not the easiest thing in the world when you can’t see what you’re doing.
But HBA’s drag-and-drop builder was simple enough that I could actually use it.
Sometimes I would drag an element and accidentally drop it into the wrong place.
Someone who could see the screen would immediately recognize what happened.
For me, I would realize something wasn’t right and simply drag the element again.
It would pop right into the correct container.
I found the whole thing incredibly intuitive.
There was one feature involving blocks or containers that I couldn’t figure out because of the visual nature of the builder.
So I posted about the problem in the HBA community.
One of HBA’s founders, Mike Hobbs, personally responded and walked me through what I was missing.
Once I understood that one piece, I was off and running.
I’ve also used Systeme.io extensively, so HBA isn’t the only funnel-building platform I’ve ever touched.
For me personally, HBA has simply been easier to use.
What Does Power Lead System Cost?
This is where PLS gets a little more complicated because there are several products and qualification levels within the ecosystem.
The traditional core Power Lead System marketing platform has been priced at approximately $30 per month.
PLS also charges a separate monthly affiliate-program fee if you want to participate in the compensation plan.
That means there is an important distinction between simply using PLS as a customer and participating as an affiliate.
There are also additional one-time and recurring training products at different price points.
These have included products such as Free Ad Secrets, Lead Generation Academy, Home Business Pro or Social Profit Academy depending on the particular PLS offer, and the higher-ticket Master Traffic Institute.
The Master Traffic Institute has been marketed at approximately $1,497 as a one-time purchase.
This is one area where I’d strongly recommend checking the current PLS sales presentation before purchasing anything.
PLS has changed and expanded its product lineup over the years, and there are still older compensation and product pages floating around online.
How Does the Power Lead System Compensation Plan Work?
The PLS compensation plan is actually one of the more interesting parts of the program.
The basic $30 monthly marketing platform has historically paid a qualified affiliate approximately $20 per month in recurring commission for a personally referred active customer.
There can also be an additional override paid to the next qualified affiliate.
PLS then has higher-priced products that can generate substantially larger one-time commissions.
Depending on the product and your qualification, those commissions can reach hundreds of dollars on a single sale, with the highest-ticket products potentially generating very large upfront commissions.
And I want to give PLS credit here.
If your primary goal is generating larger upfront commissions rather than building residual income, the PLS compensation structure can be very attractive.
I’m not going to twist the numbers around just because I personally chose HBA.
There are people who would rather generate a $500 or $1,000 commission today than build a smaller recurring commission over time.
For that person, PLS deserves a serious look.
Do You Have to Buy the PLS Products to Earn Commissions?
This is another area where the details matter.
PLS uses product-by-product qualification.
According to its compensation documentation, you can generally qualify for commissions on a particular product by either owning the product yourself or generating the required qualifying customer sales.
For a monthly subscription, qualification must remain active.
That’s actually more flexible than simply saying, “You must personally buy everything.”
And to be fair, HBA also requires affiliates to own the applicable product to receive commissions on sales of that product.
So I don’t view product ownership itself as some major criticism of PLS.
If I’m going to recommend a product to somebody, I actually prefer owning and understanding what I’m recommending.
Where PLS May Beat HBA: Large Upfront Commissions
Here’s an area where I think PLS can legitimately win depending on what you’re looking for.
If somebody told me:
“I don’t care much about residual income. I want bigger commissions when I make a sale.”
I’d have a hard time arguing that HBA is automatically the better compensation plan for that person.
PLS has historically placed considerably more emphasis on higher-ticket training products with substantial one-time commissions.
HBA has a much heavier emphasis on recurring commissions.
Neither philosophy is automatically right or wrong.
It comes down to what you’re trying to build.
For me, however, that difference was enormous.
Whether you’re promoting PLS, another affiliate program, or your own business, learning to generate targeted leads and follow up consistently is a skill you can take with you. If that part of your marketing still feels harder than it should, it’s worth exploring a simpler system for putting the pieces together.
Why I Prefer Residual Income
I’ve been earning money online since 2002.
Around 2010, I was doing a lot of traditional affiliate marketing where I would generate traffic and earn one-time commissions.
I made very good money doing it.
But there was something I didn’t like.
Every new month felt like starting over.
If I wanted another big month, I needed another month of traffic and another month of sales.
Toward the end of 2010 and into 2011, a friend introduced me to a network marketing opportunity with residual commissions.
Within roughly four to six months, I had built a meaningful recurring income.
In 2011, I made approximately twice what I had made in 2010 while working roughly one-quarter as hard.
That experience permanently changed the way I look at compensation plans.
One-time commissions aren’t bad.
I’ve made plenty of them.
But if I’m building something for the long term, I want a significant portion of my income to continue after the original sale.
Otherwise, in my opinion, your home business can eventually start feeling a lot like a job you happen to do from home.
PLS vs HBA Residual Commissions
This is probably the biggest reason I ultimately chose HBA as an income opportunity.
Today, HBA has three core monthly products that can collectively generate $128 per month in recurring commissions from one fully subscribed customer.
PLS’s traditional core marketing-platform commission is approximately $20 per month per active personally referred customer, before considering other overrides or products.
Purely from that basic recurring-commission comparison:
One fully subscribed HBA customer can generate roughly the same direct monthly residual commission as 6.4 PLS customers at $20 each.
That’s not an income claim.
It’s simply compensation-plan math.
And it doesn’t mean everyone you refer to HBA will buy all three products or remain subscribed forever.
They won’t.
The same applies to PLS customers.
But when I ask myself how many active customers I would need to build a meaningful monthly residual income, HBA’s compensation structure fits my personal goals considerably better.
Power Lead System Has Made a Serious Move Into AI
This was one of the biggest things I wanted to investigate for this updated review.
PLS clearly isn’t sitting still.
One of its newest additions is the Apex AI System.
And there is quite a bit inside it.
The current Apex AI training covers things such as:
Creating a digital twin
AI-generated graphics and banners
Creating Reel scripts and Reels
Video editing
Automatic transcription
AI voices
Reverse engineering viral videos
AI characters that can pitch products
AI-generated content
It also includes done-for-you marketing assets such as Reels and banners, along with an automated follow-up system and a branded promotional funnel.
So if somebody tells you Power Lead System hasn’t embraced AI, that’s simply not accurate anymore.
They clearly have.
Is AI Actually Built Into the PLS Funnel Builder?
This is where I found an important distinction.
I searched specifically for evidence that Power Lead System has added conversational generative AI directly to its page and funnel builder.
In other words:
Can I tell the PLS funnel builder what kind of capture page or funnel I want and have AI actually build it for me?
As of this review, I couldn’t verify that capability from PLS’s publicly available information.
That’s different from saying it doesn’t exist.
If PLS adds it tomorrow, or if it’s already available somewhere inside the members area that isn’t publicly documented, I’ll gladly update this review.
What I could verify is that much of the current Apex AI curriculum teaches members how to use AI for content creation, graphics, video, Reels, AI voices and other marketing tasks.
Some of that training specifically incorporates outside tools such as Clipchamp and OpusClip.
That’s useful training.
But it’s not necessarily the same thing as having generative AI built directly into your funnel builder.
Why That Difference Matters to Me
This is an area where my opinion of HBA has actually gotten stronger over the past five years.
HBA’s founders, Paul Hutchings and Mike Hobbs, have increasingly developed their own technology and AI capabilities.
That gives them the ability to respond directly to what their community needs and continue evolving the platform.
HBA Premium now includes tools such as Traffic Maestro, PromptWrite AI, Van Go AI Image Studio, Email Alchemist, SmartPost and Sage AI.
The Funnel Builder itself continues to evolve as well.
To me, that’s becoming increasingly important.
AI is moving too quickly for an online marketing platform to remain static for several years at a time.
PLS itself publicly identifies Priceless Possibilities as the technology company behind the Power Lead System marketing platform.
I don’t know the financial or contractual arrangement between those companies, so I’m not going to speculate about it.
But I personally like knowing that the founders of the company I’m using have increasingly developed the ability to build and modify their own technology.
That gives me more confidence in how quickly HBA can continue adapting.
New software and AI features can be useful, but they don’t automatically bring customers to your business. If you’re struggling to turn tools into actual leads and conversations, practical training and access to help can make a bigger difference than adding another feature.
What About PLS Training and Support?
I need to make an important correction to something I initially wondered about while researching this review.
PLS does provide live training and opportunities to ask questions.
Its current material describes weekly Fast Start training where members can learn the system and ask questions.
That’s a definite positive.
I’ve also watched numerous PLS webinars over the years.
One trainer I remember in particular is Franco Gonzalez.
I always thought Franco seemed like a genuinely nice guy and an excellent trainer.
He had a way of walking people through things step-by-step without making everything unnecessarily complicated.
Neil Guess also remains publicly involved with PLS.
I like that.
When I’m evaluating an online company, I want to see leadership actually showing up.
So I don’t have a criticism of PLS along the lines of, “They sell you something and disappear.”
That’s not the impression I’ve gotten.
Where HBA Support Has Been Different for Me
This is one area where I can speak from extensive firsthand experience.
HBA Premium has live mastermind coaching five days a week, Monday through Friday.
These aren’t simply prerecorded courses.
You can bring in an actual problem you’re having with your marketing and ask for help.
And I’ve used it.
There were periods when I wasn’t awake at 11 AM Eastern when the mastermind took place.
HBA gave me another option.
I could type out a detailed question explaining exactly what I was struggling with and submit it.
They would answer my question during the next live mastermind.
Then I’d receive an email telling me my question had been answered and approximately where in the archived video the answer appeared.
I’d pull up the replay, go to that part and listen to them work through my specific problem.
That’s ridiculously useful.
I’ve been doing this for 24 years and I still get stuck.
Everyone gets stuck.
There is always somebody who knows something you don’t.
The difference between staying stuck for three weeks and getting an answer tomorrow can be enormous when you’re trying to build a business.
HBA also has its own community feed where members can post questions and get help from the founders and other members.
I’ve personally experienced extremely fast responses there.
That founder accessibility has become one of the biggest reasons I’ve remained with HBA.
The HBA Community Wasn’t Why I Joined — But It Became Important
I didn’t choose HBA because somebody sold me on the idea of a “community.”
I wanted marketing tools.
But after being there for a while, the community became one of the things I valued most.
I’ve found it unusually supportive and helpful.
Paul and Mike are accessible.
Experienced marketers help newer members.
People ask questions.
People share what’s working.
And when somebody gets stuck, there is generally somebody around who can point them in the right direction.
I can’t fairly compare that with the internal PLS community because I was never a long-term full PLS member.
So I’m not going to claim PLS doesn’t have a good community.
I simply know what my experience has been with HBA.
Is Power Lead System Good for Beginners?
Yes.
This is one of the easiest conclusions for me to reach.
If you’re new to online marketing or you’ve been struggling to generate leads, Power Lead System is not inherently a bad program.
Quite the opposite.
You’re getting done-for-you systems.
You’re getting funnel and lead-capture tools.
You’re getting email marketing capability.
You’re getting training covering multiple traffic and lead-generation strategies.
You’re getting live training.
And now you’re getting considerably more AI and content-creation education through things like Apex AI.
For somebody who currently has a network marketing company but has absolutely no clue how to generate leads online, PLS could potentially move them several steps forward.
That’s valuable.
What I Like About Power Lead System
After revisiting PLS for this review, there are several things I genuinely like.
It has longevity.
PLS has been around since 2013. That’s meaningful in an industry where programs sometimes disappear almost as quickly as they arrive.
It provides real marketing tools.
This isn’t simply a “business opportunity” with nothing underneath it.
The platform can be used to market businesses outside of PLS.
It teaches lead generation.
This is huge.
The number one thing I believe struggling network and affiliate marketers need is the ability to generate their own targeted leads.
It offers done-for-you systems.
Beginners don’t necessarily have to figure out every technical piece from scratch.
It has live training.
Members aren’t limited to a library of old videos.
It has embraced AI.
Apex AI is a significant addition and shows that PLS understands where online marketing is heading.
Its higher-ticket commissions can be very attractive.
If you prefer larger upfront commissions over residual income, PLS may actually fit your business philosophy better than HBA.
Those are legitimate strengths.
What I Don’t Like As Much About PLS
Most of my concerns aren’t really accusations that PLS is doing something wrong.
They’re personal preferences.
The first is the compensation structure.
I strongly prefer substantial residual income, and HBA’s current compensation structure fits that philosophy considerably better for me.
Second, I prefer the HBA funnel builder based on my own experience and the comparisons I made when choosing a platform.
Third, although PLS is clearly embracing AI, I haven’t yet found evidence that its core funnel builder has made the jump to the kind of deeply integrated generative AI functionality I increasingly want from a modern marketing platform.
And finally, I’ve personally experienced a level of founder access and hands-on support inside HBA that would be extremely difficult for another platform to beat.
Those things matter more to me than simply asking which company can pay the biggest commission on one sale.
Power Lead System vs Home Business Academy: Which Would I Choose Today?
Five years ago, I spent months looking at both companies before deciding where I wanted to build.
I chose Home Business Academy.
Since then, I’ve occasionally watched PLS webinars and kept an eye on what they were doing.
Not once have I watched one and thought:
“Damn. I picked the wrong company.”
If anything, the opposite has happened.
Watching how both platforms have evolved has made me more confident in the decision I made.
That’s especially true over the last year as HBA has accelerated the development of its AI tools, marketing automation, funnel technology and other resources.
If my primary goal were simply earning large one-time commissions, I would give PLS considerably more consideration.
But that’s not my goal.
I’m trying to build long-term residual income while having the tools, training and support necessary to market effectively online.
For those priorities, I would choose HBA again today.
Before you decide which marketing platform to build around, think about the skills you’ll need regardless of which company you choose: attracting the right people, capturing leads, following up, and improving conversions. If you’d like a clearer way to approach those fundamentals, there’s more information below.
My Power Lead System Review: The Bottom Line
So is Power Lead System a scam?
No.
Is it some worthless outdated program that I think everyone should avoid?
Absolutely not.
In fact, I think that would be a completely unfair characterization.
Power Lead System has survived for more than a decade because it provides something people actually need.
Marketing tools.
Funnels.
Lead capture.
Email follow-up.
Lead-generation training.
Live training and support.
Done-for-you systems.
And now a growing collection of AI training and marketing resources.
If you’re a new or struggling online marketer, I think there is real value there.
And if you’re particularly interested in larger one-time affiliate commissions, PLS may be an even better fit for you.
It simply wasn’t the best fit for me.
When I originally compared PLS with Home Business Academy in 2021, I chose HBA.
Five years later, after going back and taking another serious look at what Power Lead System has become, I’d make the same decision again — only with considerably more confidence.
Not because Power Lead System is bad.
Because for the kind of business I want to build, I believe I found something better.
