What If the Problem Isn’t Your Network Marketing Company… But What You’re Trying to Build It With?
If you’re struggling to build your network marketing business, there’s a good chance you’ve asked yourself some version of these questions:
Where do I find more people to talk to?
How do I generate leads without constantly chasing friends and family?
How do I build an email list?
How do I follow up with prospects automatically?
How do I create content consistently when I don’t have hours every day to do it?
And maybe the biggest question of all…
How do I actually turn all of this into a business that gives me more freedom instead of another job?
I’ve been involved in online marketing since 2002, and I can tell you that these are not new problems.
The technology has changed dramatically.
The platforms have changed.
The lead generation strategies have changed.
But the fundamental problem hasn’t.
If you want to build a network marketing business online, eventually you need a way to attract prospects, capture leads, follow up with them, create content, develop your marketing skills, and get help when you get stuck.
That’s exactly why I believe the Home Business Academy, or HBA, can be such a powerful complement to a network marketing business.
And interestingly enough, that’s not why I originally joined.
I Was Just Looking for a Better Funnel Builder
Back in 2021, I was getting serious about rebuilding my lead generation.
My email list had become less responsive over time, and I knew I needed to start generating fresh leads again.
One of my problems was that my older capture pages had been created for me by a programmer.
They worked, but if I wanted to make changes myself, I was limited in what I could do.
So I started looking for a funnel builder.
I evaluated three different platforms, and another marketer I knew and respected recommended that I take a look at the Home Business Academy.
He told me they had one of the best funnel builders he had used, it was very affordable, and HBA had several other products I might eventually be interested in.
I went in looking for a funnel builder.
I ended up buying everything.
And now, after being a member for about five years, I see HBA very differently than I did when I first joined.
I see it as an all-in-one platform for building an online business.
And for a network marketer who is struggling to generate leads and build a team, I think that distinction is incredibly important.
But before we go any further.
There is another problem most network marketers never realize.
It is that building substantial income in network marketing can take longer than most people expect, but there is a different approach you can use alongside the network marketing business you’re already building.
There’s Nothing Wrong With Network Marketing
I want to make something very clear.
I am not telling you that network marketing doesn’t work.
I’ve been involved in this industry for more than two decades.
Network marketing offers something that a simple one-tier affiliate program cannot: leverage.
Over time, you can potentially build an organization where your income is no longer based entirely on your own personal production. You’re developing leaders and earning from the production of an entire organization.
That can be incredibly powerful.
The problem is that it can take time to get there.
You have to recruit people.
Those people have to get started.
Some of them have to actually do something.
Some have to stick around.
Some have to become producers.
And eventually, some need to develop into leaders themselves.
That’s where two things start working against the struggling network marketer:
Economics and human nature.
Network Marketing Usually Pays a Little on a Lot of People
Most network marketing compensation plans are designed around leverage.
Instead of earning a large percentage from a small number of customers, you’re typically earning smaller amounts across a potentially much larger organization.
That can work beautifully once you’ve built the organization.
But what happens while you’re building it?
You might ultimately need a team consisting of hundreds or even thousands of people to produce the residual income you’re trying to create.
That doesn’t mean you personally have to sponsor hundreds or thousands of people.
That’s the whole point of duplication.
But duplication brings us to the second problem.
You Can’t Control What Other People Do
This was one of the biggest lessons I learned during my years in network marketing.
You can recruit someone.
You can train them.
You can encourage them.
You can give them tools.
You can show them exactly what you would do.
But you can’t make them do it.
A large percentage of people simply aren’t going to do very much.
That’s not necessarily your fault.
It’s human nature.
And when your compensation plan depends heavily on duplication, part of your income is ultimately dependent on what other people decide to do.
What if you could build another residual income alongside your network marketing business that put much more of that control back into your own hands?
That’s where HBA gets interesting.
Paul explains this concept in much greater detail in his free guide, including the experience that completely changed the way he looked at residual income after building a network marketing organization of approximately 600 people.
The HBA Compensation Model Is Completely Different
HBA uses a simple one-tier affiliate model.
You’re not waiting for someone you enrolled to go enroll somebody else.
You’re not waiting for duplication to kick in.
Your income is based directly on customers you personally refer.
But here’s the part that really caught my attention:
The three primary recurring HBA products pay 80% residual commissions.
Not just an 80% commission when somebody buys.
80% recurring commissions while that customer remains subscribed.
The three residual products together currently generate $128 per month in affiliate commissions per customer.
That means…
10 customers = $1,280 per month.
25 customers = $3,200 per month.
50 customers = $6,400 per month.
Obviously, there are no guarantees that you will acquire or retain any particular number of customers.
You still have to market.
You still have to generate leads.
You still have to do the work.
But notice what’s different.
You don’t need to wait for a team of hundreds or thousands of people to develop before the numbers can become meaningful.
And you’re not starting from zero again every month like you would with a one-time affiliate commission.
You’re building residual income.
That’s why I don’t look at HBA as something that has to replace network marketing.
I think the two work extremely well together.
Build the higher-paying one-tier residual income based primarily on your own efforts while you’re developing the larger network marketing organization that can eventually give you greater leverage.
And here’s where it gets even better.
The products you’re referring people to through HBA are many of the same tools and skills a network marketer needs anyway.
You Already Have a Network Marketing Business. Now You Need the Marketing Machine Around It.
Let’s say you’ve joined a network marketing company.
Now what?
There’s nothing wrong with sharing your products with people you know. If you genuinely believe in what you have, you never know who in your existing circle might be interested.
But if you want to build something significant, eventually you need to get beyond your warm market.
You need to learn how to generate leads.
You need somewhere to send those leads.
You need a way to collect their information.
You need a way to follow up.
You need to learn how to create content.
You need to develop actual marketing skills.
And when you get stuck, you need somewhere to get help.
That’s essentially what HBA has become.
Your Funnel Builder
You can build capture pages, sales pages, websites, funnels, membership sites and other pages for your business.
There’s also AI functionality that can help you create pages and funnels by answering questions rather than having to build everything manually.
This matters especially for people who consider themselves technically challenged.
You shouldn’t need to become a programmer just to put a capture page online.
I can give you a pretty unusual example of that from my own experience.
I’m legally blind and use a screen reader.
And I was still able to learn how to use the HBA Funnel Builder and build pages with it.
When I did run into something I couldn’t figure out because there was a feature on the screen I couldn’t see, HBA co-founder Mike Hobbs actually went in and helped set up that portion of my domain for me.
I didn’t have to hire a programmer.
I wasn’t left searching YouTube for hours trying to figure it out myself.
I got help.
And that brings me to what I believe is one of HBA’s biggest advantages.
You’re Not Left Alone With a Bunch of Software
This is where HBA really started separating itself from other platforms for me.
You can go out and buy a funnel builder somewhere.
Then buy an autoresponder somewhere else.
Then find some AI tools.
Then buy a marketing course.
Then find somebody else to teach you lead generation.
And when something doesn’t work, you get to figure out which company you’re supposed to ask for help.
HBA brings all of this under one roof.
The Funnel Builder gives you the infrastructure to build your pages and funnels.
The built-in autoresponder gives you a way to build and follow up with your email list without having to purchase and learn another third-party autoresponder.
Premium gives you training on lead generation, traffic and conversions.
It also includes AI tools that can help you create content for social media, YouTube, short-form video, email and other marketing activities.
And then there’s the part that I believe is extremely difficult to put a price on:
Live help.
If you’re beginning to see how this could fit alongside the network marketing business you’re already building, don’t make a decision based solely on this page.
Start with Paul’s free guide and understand the numbers and philosophy behind the model first.
Five Days a Week, You Can Actually Get LIVE Help
HBA Premium includes live coaching and support five days per week.
And I don’t mean prerecorded videos marketed as “coaching.”
I’ve personally been on these calls.
Paul and/or Mike are regularly there themselves, along with other experienced marketers.
I’ve watched the scheduled portion of a call end and the questions begin.
And I’ve watched Paul and Mike stay.
If answering everybody takes another 15 minutes, they stay.
If it takes considerably longer, they stay.
They work through people’s questions and problems and try to help them get unstuck.
I’ve been doing this since 2002.
I’ve purchased marketing tools.
I’ve been through different programs.
I’ve worked with different companies.
The level of commitment I’ve personally seen from Paul and Mike toward their members is one of the things that has impressed me most during my 24 years in this industry.
That’s a major reason I’ve remained an HBA member since 2021.
Learn the Lead Generation Strategy That Fits YOU
There’s another mistake I see people make in network marketing.
They think there is one magic way everybody is supposed to build.
There isn’t.
Maybe you’re comfortable making YouTube videos.
Maybe you prefer written content.
Maybe social media fits your personality.
Maybe another traffic strategy makes more sense for you.
HBA Premium includes training covering multiple lead-generation and marketing strategies so you can find an approach that fits you and then learn how to get better at it.
And that’s important.
Because generating leads is a skill.
Creating content is a skill.
Writing emails is a skill.
Converting prospects into customers is a skill.
You’re probably not going to be naturally great at all of those things on day one.
That’s okay. You don’t need to be.
What you need is somewhere to learn those skills and somewhere to turn when you’re stuck.
AI Is Making the Technical Side Even Easier
This is another reason I’ve become increasingly impressed with HBA.
They haven’t stood still.
As online marketing has changed, the tools and training inside HBA have continued evolving with it.
Premium now includes AI-powered tools designed to help with things such as content creation, email, social media, traffic and other marketing tasks.
The Funnel Builder also includes AI capabilities designed to make building pages and funnels dramatically easier.
Instead of needing to understand every technical piece yourself, AI can help do more of the heavy lifting.
For the struggling network marketer who says:
“I don’t know what to write.”
“I don’t know how to make content.”
“I don’t know how to build a page.”
“I don’t have enough time.”
“I don’t understand all this technical stuff.”
Those barriers are becoming smaller and smaller.
And during the years I’ve been with HBA, I’ve watched them continue adding more value and capabilities without constantly increasing the prices of the core products.
This Is What I Mean by Building a Freedom Business
Personally, I don’t want a business that requires me to sit on the phone prospecting people for hours every day forever.
Some people are extremely good at that.
If your strategy is buying quality opportunity-seeker leads and spending several hours a day working the phones, there is nothing inherently wrong with that approach.
In fact, if that’s how you want to build, HBA may not be something you need.
HBA is much more aligned with the person who wants to build an online marketing system.
Create content.
Generate leads.
Build an email list.
Follow up.
Build assets.
Develop marketing skills.
And over time, create a business that doesn’t require you to personally chase every single prospect.
That’s what I mean when I talk about building a freedom business.
If that’s the kind of business you’re trying to build, I recommend starting here.
This free guide will show you why simply trying to build a bigger network marketing team may not solve the income problem as quickly as you expect—and how changing the economics can change the number of customers you actually need.
Who Is HBA Really For?
If you’re a network marketer who is struggling to recruit…
If you don’t have enough people to talk to…
If you’ve burned through your warm market…
If you want to learn how to generate leads online…
If you want to build an email list and automate your follow-up…
If you want to create content but don’t have hours every day to do it…
If you want AI to help you with some of the workload…
If you want live coaching instead of being handed a login and wished good luck…
Or if you simply want to become a better marketer…
I think HBA deserves a serious look.
And although I’m talking primarily to network marketers on this page, the tools themselves aren’t limited to network marketing.
You could use HBA to build an affiliate marketing business.
A traditional small business.
A coaching business.
A business selling physical products.
You could sell baked goods if that’s your thing.
The point is that the fundamentals remain the same.
You need a place online to present your offer.
You need traffic.
You need leads.
You need follow-up.
And you need marketing skills.
HBA gives you tools and training designed to help you put those pieces together.
Who Is HBA NOT For?
If you’re looking for a get-rich-quick program, this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a push-button system where you do absolutely nothing and money magically appears, this isn’t it.
And frankly, neither is legitimate network marketing.
HBA gives you tools.
It gives you training.
It gives you live coaching.
It gives you support.
It gives you AI that can make certain parts of the work dramatically easier.
But you still have to build the business.
And as I mentioned earlier, if you prefer a completely offline or phone-based approach to network marketing and have no interest in learning online lead generation, funnels, email marketing or content creation, HBA probably isn’t necessary for your strategy.
But if you want to learn how to build an online marketing system that can become an asset over time, that’s exactly where I think HBA shines.
If You’re Going to Build Online Anyway, Why Buy Everything Separately?
This is the question I keep coming back to.
You’re going to need tools.
You’re going to need training.
You’re probably going to need help.
So you could buy a funnel builder from one company.
An autoresponder from another.
AI tools from several more.
Courses from someone else.
And coaching somewhere else.
Or you can have an ecosystem where the tools, training, coaching and community are designed to work together.
That’s what HBA has become for me.
And there’s another benefit:
You can earn residual commissions by referring other people to the same tools you’re already using to build your own business.
That’s why I think HBA makes so much sense as a front end to network marketing.
You’re not abandoning your network marketing company.
You’re building the marketing machine that can help you grow it.
At the same time, you’re potentially creating a higher-paying residual income stream based much more directly on your own efforts while your larger organization has time to develop.
If I Were Starting Today, Here’s What I Would Do
I would personally start with what HBA calls the Triple Residual.
That includes the three recurring products:
Let’s Goal — the personal-development and goal-setting app.
Funnel Builder — the infrastructure for building your capture pages, websites and funnels.
Premium — the marketing training, AI tools, live coaching, support and community that helps you learn how to actually generate leads and put everything together.
The current starter option is $35 for Let’s Goal and the Funnel Builder, and it includes a 14-day trial of Premium.
My philosophy is simple:
Do what you can comfortably afford. There should be no pressure.
But if you’re serious about building online and all three products make sense for you, I personally prefer going all in rather than continually dipping a toe in the water.
Not because buying more products magically makes you successful.
It doesn’t.
It’s because there’s a psychological difference between saying:
“I’ll poke around and see if this works.”
and:
“I’m going to learn the skills I need to make this work.”
HBA also offers its Financial Literacy Academy as a separate one-time product for people who want additional education around managing, keeping and investing the money they earn.
I Wish Something Like This Existed When I Started
I started online in 2002.
The Internet was a very different place.
Online lead generation itself was still relatively new.
Google was becoming a major source of traffic.
Bulk email was common.
Social media as we know it today wasn’t even really part of the equation.
And there certainly wasn’t an AI assistant waiting to help you create your next piece of content or build a marketing page.
I would have loved to have had something like HBA.
But what impresses me even more than the tools themselves is the way the community continues evolving.
When a new strategy develops or an existing platform changes, there’s a growing community of marketers inside HBA testing things, figuring out what’s working and sharing what they’ve learned.
Marketing will continue changing.
The strategy that’s effective today may not be the strategy you’re using five years from now.
That’s why I don’t just want another piece of software.
I want to be connected to people who are continually learning how to market.
After roughly five years inside HBA, that’s one of the biggest values I see in being part of it.
Your Network Marketing Company May Not Be the Problem
If you’re struggling right now, your first instinct may be to find another opportunity.
Maybe that’s not what you need.
Maybe you already have a good company.
Maybe you already have good products.
Maybe you already have a compensation plan with tremendous long-term leverage.
Maybe what you’re missing is the marketing machine around it.
A way to generate leads.
A way to capture them.
A way to follow up.
A way to create content.
A place to learn marketing.
People you can ask when you get stuck.
Tools that make the technical pieces easier.
And an additional residual-income model that doesn’t require you to wait for an entire organization to duplicate before you can potentially create meaningful income.
That’s why I believe HBA can be such a logical next step for a struggling network marketer.
You don’t necessarily need to give up the business you’re building.
You may simply need better tools to build it.
Start With the Free Guide
Don’t take my word for any of this.
Before you make a decision about HBA, I want you to understand the idea behind it.
There’s a free guide explaining the economics and human-nature problems we’ve been talking about on this page.
You’ll see what happened when Paul built a network marketing organization of approximately 600 people but was earning only around $1,200 per month—and how changing the economics of his business eventually allowed him to earn approximately $7,200 per month with a group roughly one-tenth that size.
More importantly, you’ll understand why it happened.
If you’re struggling to build your network marketing business right now, this may change the way you look at the problem.
And it may show you that the answer isn’t necessarily finding another network marketing company.
It may be changing the way you build the one you already have.
See how the economics and human nature behind residual income can change the way you build your business.
